Getting Started with New Exercise Gear

Congratulations on Beginning Your New Fitness Journey!

When shopping for exercise equipment, selecting the right gear can determine how committed you will be to exercising and give you a more enjoyable fitness experience.

Perhaps you’ve already purchased some new gear and are excited to get started. Depending on what type of gear you bought, there can be many ways to devise workout routines around that equipment. Whether your new gear is just simple exercise implements, such as a stability ball, resistance bands, dumbbells…or an elaborate selectorized weight machine, designing a routine need not be complicated.

Safety and Setup: Preparing Your Fitness Equipment for Use

If you purchased equipment that requires assembly (they should come with written or video instructions), just be sure you assemble it properly to ensure safety, or have someone with mechanical expertise do that for you.

Then most other gear is ready to use right out of the box or package, so no assembly required. Just designate a space for where you will be using your new equipment and let’s get ready to pump!

When getting started with any new exercise program, the first rule is always BE SAFE! Can’t emphasize this point enough. Regardless of what exercise equipment you choose to use and the exercises you do, make sure you’ll be able to perform those exercises properly and safely in an area that’s free of obstacles and little children.

When it comes to exercise selection, you may feel lost with so many to choose from. Depending on the equipment you’re using, here are some sample workouts with selected equipment in mind:
